I think I used to be that person to some degree--the one who poo-pooed people who thought differently about things. I used to think that people were WRONG. I used to shake my head and say, "I have no sympathy for that person because blahblahblahyackitysmackity." In short, I had a bit of an inability to place myself in anyone else's shoes.
Over the past few years, I have seen that horribly narrow mindset in myself transform into something else--something new, tender, and altogether (I feel) better. Now I can see and appreciate the amazing complexities that make a mind, which, in turn, affects every single molecule within the body..... and I can say, without hesitation, that you deserve to be heard. Your concerns are valid, and have value.
